Aiming for AI Interoperability Webinar 2: Success and Failure Cases of other Sectors’ Technical and Regulatory Interoperability Efforts
MONTREAL, May 26, 2025 – As part of its commitment to advancing responsible AI governance, CEIMIA is pleased to present the second webinar in the “Aiming for AI Interoperability” series, made possible with the support of Google.org. The session will take place on Tuesday, June 3, and will feature expert perspectives on regulatory and technical interoperability in established sectors.
Our first webinar detailed the current state of AI governance, some of its challenges, and possible pathways to address those challenges.
One recurring challenge that was highlighted is the growing fragmentation and convolution of AI governance efforts within and across borders, which leads to increased compliance costs, creates barriers to entries for small and medium-sized firms, reduced enforcement capacity, and can lead to regulatory and technical venue shopping, among other challenges. Regulatory and technical interoperability are one pathway that could address these and other challenges.
During this second webinar of the series, panelists will present different interoperability cases from more established industries that have experienced the need for regulatory or technical interoperability. These panelists will present how those sectors’ addressed their need for regulatory or technical interoperability and provide possible lessons for how and why those efforts succeeded or failed to consider when implementing regulatory and technical interoperability for AI governance.
