Network of Centers for International Cooperation in AI

Mission

The Network of Centers for International Cooperation on AI acts as a hub for international and multistakeholder collaboration to develop applied projects in responsible, trustworthy and safe AI for the common good.

The Network of Centers share a vision of collaboration at a global scale and brings together leading AI experts, policymakers, industry leaders and civil society to support and guide the responsible adoption of AI grounded in human rights, inclusion, diversity, gender equality, innovation, economic growth and environmental & societal benefit.

By bringing together an international and multidisciplinary community of experts, we deliver applied initiatives to bridge the gap between policy and practice within the OECD / GPAI integrated partnership.

In order: Yuko Harayama, Secratary General of the Tokyo Expert Support Center (NICT); Sophie Fallaha, Executive Director of the Montreal Expert Support Center (CEIMIA); and Aurélie Simard, Executive Director of the Paris expertise Support Center (INRIA).

Who are we?

The Network of Centers for International Cooperation on AI is a tripartite collaboration initiated in the context of the Global Partnership on AI (GPAI), now part of an integrated partnership with the OECD, bringing together 44 countries and 240+ experts.

The Network of Centers is composed of the three Centers, hosted at CEIMIA (Canada), Inria (France) and NICT (Japan).

Together, the three Centers play a crucial role towards developing and deploying responsible AI initiatives grounded in ethical principles, and good governance while building a resilient society fostering innovation and economic growth.

Our Methodology

The Network of Centers anchors its work through four key strategic activities developed to support the delivery of practical projects through a cycle that has demonstrated its value:

The Innovation workshop

A co-designed exercise led by the Network of Centers to bring together multi-stakeholder experts to work directly with Governments and organizations to find solutions to concrete challenges about AI.

The Lab

A space to conduct exploratory and experimental projects advancing research with a focus on responsible and safe practices.

The Incubator

A space to scale up projects in collaboration with Governments and organizations that sponsor our initiatives to develop, pilot test and deploy actionable assets.

The Academy

A space to share knowledge and learnings by developing trainings, accessible materials and educational capsules to support the transfer of multi-stakeholder approach into practical implementation.
